Is Laura Lee’s Cat’s Pajamas really THE Cat’s Pajamas?

After lusting over this palette for months, I finally gave in and bought the Cat’s Pajamas palette from Laura Lee Los Angeles – all thanks to a little push from Beauty Bay’s 50% discount!

The Cat’s Pajama’s palette usually retails at £35 and contains 10 shadow pans, however I was fortunate enough to get the palette for £17.50 (thanks again, Beauty Bay!)

The first thing to mention is the packaging. Now I’m sure every review probably mentions this but OH MY WOW IT IS BEAUTIFUL! In daylight, or with a camera flash on, the glitter on the packaging shines so bright!

When you open the palette up, you’re greeted by a beautiful pink peony background surrounding the shadow pans and the mirror. The mirror is a good size too, so handy for makeup on the move!

But more importantly – on to the shadows! The palette consists 5 matte shadows, 4 shimmers and one hybrid ‘semi-matte’.

half1

Okie Doke This lovely cream coloured matte shade is a shadow I find myself drawn to applying over my eyeshadow primer in order to set the base for the rest of the application.

Scatter Brain – A yellow-gold shimmer shade. And boy is she pigmented! You only need to apply a little bit of Scatter Brain (without any spray / liquid!) and it goes a long way with high shine! My favourite in the palette!!

Bomb Diggity – A warm matte light brown shade. Bomb Diggity works well as a transition shade and blends out like a dream.

Quirky – A plum toned shimmer. Quirky has an almost bronze toned look when the light hits and works lovely for a warm-toned smokey eye.

Kooky – A matte cranberry shade. Lovely for deepening up the crease / outer corner of the eye.

In One Ear – A cranberry shimmer. Works perfectly with Kooky and has a more golden toned shimmer to it. I like to place this shade in the outer half of my eye with Scatter Brain on the inner half to add depth and definition.

half2

Cray Cray –  A terracotta toned matte. Works well for deepening up Bomb Diggity for building up your transition and for adding depth and definition to your eyes. This shade also looks lovely all over the lids for a matte look!

Redonkulus – A bronze shimmer tone. Redonkulus goes lovely with any colour in the palette, is super pigmented and blends effortlessly.

Out the Other –  Not fully matte but not fully shimmer, Out the Other is a hybrid purple tone with a subtle golden sheen when hit in the right light. Again, super blendable and  nicely pignented.

Odd Ball – A matte black. In the pan it looks like there is some glitters in this shade but when you go to use it they don’t show up (what kind of sorcery is this Laura?!). Odd Ball is the best black shadow I’ve ever used. There is a slight fall-out with this shade, after all it is a black, but for the level of intense pigment it offers the fall-out really isn’t that much.

So overall, I’m in love with this palette. Each shade is high-pigment and so easy to blend. I’d say it’s a perfect product for beginners but when the high price of £35 puts a makeup lover like me off, I can’t imagine what a beginner would think! You do however get a quality product with large product pans, so if you’re thinking about investing in this palette you won’t be let down. And if Beauty Bay do another half-price offer on it I would recommend it even more!

So all in all – is this product really the cat’s pajamas? I’d say so!

Thank you for reading my first blog post – please let me know what you think if you already own it, if you’ll be buying the product and if you liked this review! Xo Marie
